Brother Ones:I am pleased to inform you that we did another relief at Nyamue on Sunday May 24 – THANKS to WFR Relief Ministries for their generous contribution. 340 people (both young and old) benefited from the food distribution yesterday (attached find pictures). Our church affiliated pre-school — Nyamue Christian Junior Academy (NCJA) kids also benefited. Each of the 40 kids (most of them being orphans and others coming from families who were displaced during electoral violence) will be served with 2 cups of porridge for a period of 2 months! (Attached find picture of the kids). My family also benefited from the relief funds as it enabled us to take a heavy breakfast on Sunday morning before we went to church (Attached find pictureJ).

As I had indicated on my earlier report, our relief efforts at Nyamue has served so well as an outreach program… We are having more and more new people coming to church every Sunday morning because, I believe, they want to be associated with a church that cares – that attends to both the physical and the spiritual needs. I have been studying the Bible with the new prospects and guess what? EIGHT – YES – 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8! Were baptized yesterday – on Sunday May 24, 2009 (Attached find pictures).

The 8 are (from LEFT on one of the attached pictures, where they are lined up before baptism) Alfayo Nyamweya (40 yr old), Martha Moraa (27), Esther Kemunto (48), Beatrice Kemunto (24), Tabitha Nyanchera (27), Martha Sigara (35), Wilkista Nyaboke (30), Teresia Bochere (54). I attribute the 8 baptisms to our relief efforts.

On behalf of the Nyamue church, I wish to THANK WFR folks (and all of you big heated contributors who have been helping us feed the hungry here) most sincerely for your help. You just do not know exactly how far your generous contributions go… As you have seen, it does not only save people from physical starving but also from spiritual starving! Our just God must surely not fail to reward you for your efforts. Thanks for your partnership. Keep up the good work.

In His service & yours,
David Marube

Dear Ones,Greetings from Kenya! I wish to let you know that we did another food relief at Nyamue yesterday on Sunday May 10 – THANKS to Whites Ferry Road (WFR) Relief Ministries for their generous contribution. A 2kg packet of maize flour was given to 380 people, both young and old — of ages between 1 & 80… Attached find some pictures.

“God surely answers prayers! I have gone without food for two days. I didn’t have much strength this morning but I said to myself, let me go to church and pray to God to give me food” – said 86-year old Bosibori, the oldest member at the Nyamue church. “What do I tell those who donated the food kids?” – I asked young kids after giving them a packet of maize flour each… “Tell them Jesus loves them and we love them too” – 3-year old Irene quickly responded (Irene appears in one of the attached pictures).

We will do more relief in a week’s time. It is worthy mentioning that our relief efforts at Nyamue has become an outreach program and our church is now swelling! We are having more and more new people coming to Sunday morning worship services. I am studying with the new people and expect close to 10 baptisms in less than 2 weeks! Keep praying for these prospects as you wait for the good news of their decision to become Christians! I will keep you posted.

So brethren, the massage from your brothers & sisters in Kenya is loud and clear – YOU (who have been helping us in the relief efforts) are an answer to our prayers… Jesus loves you… We love you too! Keep up the good work. May the good Lord bless your generosity.

In His service & yours,
David Marube.

Dear Ones,Just an update to let you know that Kisii hosted this year’s Kenya Churches of Christ National Youth Conference where Christian youths from Churches of Christ in Kenya gather together for a 3-day seminar where they eat together, sleep together, study together, pray together, play together and do all sorts of recreational activities together (attached find pictures). The venue was at the AIC hall at Kisii Primary School in Kisii town. 130 youths were able to attend. The theme was: Am I my brother’s keeper? Next year’s seminar will be held at Mombasa. Well, I just thought you might be interested to know.

God bless you!

In Christ,
David.

Update on relief efforts at Nyamue…

Dear Ones,Bassy is now a college student. She has enrolled for a Diploma Course on Early Childhood Development (ECD) – a course that will enable her to better serve the kids at our Nyamue Christian Junior Academy (NCJA). She will be doing the courses (on Child Development, Child Psychology, Child Rights, etc) on school holidays (April, August & December), for a period of 6 months — spread in two years. Interestingly, they will be using Nyabururu Girls High School where our daughter Lilian attends school. So when Lily will be coming home for (April, August & December) school holidays, mom will be leaving home for college at the same institution! Being a student and a parent at the same time is hectic so you need to put Bassy in prayers.

We did more relief at Nyamue this morning. I did the food distribution from our home. Attached find pictures. If you remember correctly, I had used a picture of Ruth & sisters in knocking doors for food some few weeks ago. On the attached picture of Ruth with sisters, unlike the previous picture, the kids are wearing happy faces after some well wishers offered to share the little they had so they too could get something to eat. Their mother (Josephine, picture attached) picked the food for them. We gave a packet of 2kg maize flour to each person attending Nyamue church, starting from the age of one. 280 benefited.

The people here are still in a dire need of food. If there is anything that you can do to help them, please do not hesitate to do so. Thanks in advance. God’s blessings!

In Christian love,
David Marube.
